We are proud of our grass fed beef!
Date Creek Ranch beef is: Good for You!
Knowing exactly where your beef comes from gives your family the reassurance that your food is coming from people who care about the quality of your meat. We strive to keep our customers happy by producing a clean, healthy, and delicious product.
Our beef is 100% grass fed and lives entirely on native forages, irrigated pasture, and occasionally some hay. We do not use any antibiotics, steroids or hormones. We have an excellent meat cutter who dry ages your meat (for tenderness and to enhance the flavor) for 14 days before processing it.
Our ranch is always open to our customers. Please visit and get to know us and our operation personally.
Date Creek Ranch has not used any herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers on the land or the animals since 1983.
Good for the land
Our family ranch is managed holistically. This means that all decisions are carefully (link to goals) evaluated to determine if they are environmentally, socially, and economically sound.
Diversity of all life on this land contributes to our quality of life and healthy soils give us a foundation on which to build a successful business. Date Creek Ranch has a very low carbon footprint. All irrigation of our pastures, orchard, and water needs for livestock is done with solar power. Our unique and carefully planned grazing management sequesters carbon.
Good for the cows
Our cows live their entire lives on the open range. They harvest their own food, are on fresh pasture, select their own diet, and enjoy clean and spacious environments. They are never put into a feedlot.
Our cows are happy cows. We treat them quietly, with respect, and gratitude. We believe we have an unwritten contract with our cows. We give them the very best life we can and in turn they provide us with a means to feed our family. Each day we ask ourselves, “How can we make life better for our animals?”
Good for the wildlife
We are predator friendly. We believe that all wildlife, including predators, play a vital role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
We co-exist with coyotes, mountain lions, foxes, deer, bobcats, javelina, ringtailed cats, eagles, the occasional bear, and many other species. We are proud of the wide diversity of wildlife here on the ranch.
Good for us
Providing grassfed beef for our customers gives us the opportunity to work together as a family, make a good living, follow our passions, provide good food for families and thus preserve open spaces and protect this beautiful land from development. We have been direct marketing beef to local families since 1985.
